Tomb chest. c1700. Commemorates Walter Higgs (d.1698) and his daughter Anne (d.1684). Ashlar with slate inscription panel to south and iron cresting. Scrolled acanthus consoles to ends form lyre shape, with scallop shell motif between; carved swags flanking panel with foliage and fielded oval to north. Cast-iron cresting on capping. Higgs had been a commissioned officer in the service of King Charles I. (Charlton Kings Local History Society Bulletin: 1986-: 7).
