Description

A dairy with a granary above, dating to the 1820s, situated to the west of Holland. The building is constructed of stone rubble with galletting, and has a rag slate roof with half-hipped ends. It has a rectangular plan. The north elevation features two rectangular openings with timber mullion windows and lintels, a plank door in the centre, and another plank door above. A dairy entrance, partly below ground level, is located in the east half-hipped end, above which is a circular owl hole. Four doveholes are present on both the north and west elevations, with a similar owl hole also on the west elevation. The south elevation rises with the ground, and stone rubble and granite steps lead up to the granary. Originally, a stream ran through the building to cool produce in the dairy, which was positioned partly below the surrounding ground level; some blue-slate slabs remain. The granary contains slots for slatted boards, and has a pegged rafter roof.
