Description
Albert Cottages is a row of four estate cottages built in 1870, constructed from stone rubble with brick dressings and featuring a slate roof with hipped ends. The cottages have two brick stacks on the ridge and are arranged with two central cottages that have front entrances, while the two outer cottages are accessed via side entrances. Rear wings were added in the 20th century. The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical four-window front.
On the ground floor, there are two gabled stone rubble porches with slate roofs and four-centred brick arches. The left-hand porch has a 20th-century glazed door, while the right-hand porch likely retains its original plank door. The left-hand porch is flanked by original 19th-century mullion and transom windows with glazing bars, set beneath brick segmental arches. The right-hand porch has similar windows, but the glazing bars have been removed. Above, there are four gabled half-dormers featuring two-light casements beneath brick arches, with the right-hand windows also lacking glazing bars. A stone datestone is set in a square moulded surround at the center of the front. The side walls display similar porches and half-dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
