Description

Tavyside School, dated 1837, was built by the Bedford Estate as a Grammar School. It is a two-storey building constructed of stone ashlar with a rustic finish. The school features two gables and a gabled half-dormer facing Russell Street, as well as one gable and half-dormer facing Plymouth Road. The slate roof has chimneys set diagonally. The windows are two-light stone mullioned with hood moulding, and there is a gabled doorway. The letter 'B' and the Bedford crest are displayed in the gables and above the doorway.
