Description
The Church of the Holy Spirit is a church built in 1878, located in Buckland Monachorum, Milton Combe. It features slate rubble walls with Bath stone dressings and a gable-ended slate roof with coping stones. There is a rubble and ashlar lateral stack serving the vestry. The church consists of a nave and chancel, with a vestry to the north and an entrance porch at the west gable end. The nave windows are two-light with pointed cusped heads and a continuous hood-mould that has foliage carved stops. The chancel has pointed lancet windows, and the east window is three-light with a hood-mould featuring carved headstops. The lean-to porch at the west gable end has a pointed arched doorway on the south side. A gabled stone belfry is located at the west gable end, and there is a projecting gabled vestry to the north of the chancel. Inside, the double chamfered chancel arch is supported by foliage carved corbels. The arch-braced nave roof has its main trusses resting on corbels and intermediate trusses, and there are carved bench ends.
