Description
This building, located about 60 meters west of Lew Quarry Cottage, is a house that was once two cottages linked to the nearby slate quarry. It dates from the early to mid 18th century. The exterior is whitewashed and rendered, with thatch on the left side and an asbestos slate roof on the right. There are gable end stacks, with the left end rendered and the right end made of stone with a brick shaft. The house has a single depth plan and features a rear left outshut covered by a slate lean-to roof. The front is a single storey with two windows on either side. There is a central blocked doorway leading to the thatched section of the house, and a 20th-century entrance at the rear. The windows are 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to have a blocked fireplace at the left gable end stack and exposed joists. These cottages were likely used by quarrymen.
