Description

St John's Park is a small house, originally two cottages, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features rendered rubble and cob walls and has a gable-ended thatched roof. The house has two gable-end rendered rubble stacks, one at the right end and one at the rear wing. The plan is L-shaped, with two rooms in the front range, the larger right-hand room being heated. There is a one-room heated rear wing behind the left-hand end, and a shallow stair projection at the rear of the main range in the angle with the wing.

The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front with late 20th century PVC two-light casements. There is a 20th century one-storey flat-roofed addition in front of the right-hand side and a 20th century plank door to the left. The rear wing extends behind the left-hand end with a shallow projection at the rear adjoining it.

Inside, the right-hand room has wany insubstantial beams and an open fireplace with an oven, although the lintel has been replaced. The rough wany roof trusses are probably from the 18th century.
