Description
This is a range of farm buildings located immediately to the south-west of East Heywood Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The buildings are constructed with cob walls and feature a gable-ended corrugated iron roof. The layout forms an L-shape opposite the farmhouse, with a central double threshing floor barn. To the right of the barn is an adjoining linhay, and another linhay projects forward from the left end of the barn, nearly connecting it to the house. There is a covered entrance to the yard in the corner between the two linhays.
The exterior includes a single-storey barn with cart entrances on either side of the centre, each flanked by cheeks and small slits below the eaves. A 20th-century lean-to has been added in front of the right-hand end. The attached linhay on the right is two storeys high and has four bays, while the linhay on the left end of the barn is also two storeys and has four bays. Inside, the barn features a 20th-century king post and tie-beam roof.
