Description
This group of three headstones dates from the late 18th century and is located about 13 meters north of the west wall of the north aisle of the Church of St John the Baptist. They are made of slate. The southernmost headstone features a segmental head and commemorates William Tapson, who died in 1773, with a winged skull carved at the top. Approximately 2 meters to the north is another headstone, also with a segmental head, commemorating William Tapson, who died in 1783, notable for its good lettering. About 2 meters to the west is a segmental-headed headstone that commemorates both Robert Tapson, who died in 1796, and Charles Tapson, who died in 1795, featuring an angel carved between the inscriptions.
