Description

This is a road bridge over the Abbey River and the drive leading to Hartland Abbey, built in 1898 by Clements and Sons, as indicated by the datestone on the parapet. The bridge is constructed from stone rubble and brick, featuring two widely separated round arches. The western arch spans the river, while the eastern arch crosses the drive, both built as a single structure. The arch over the drive has rock-faced quoins, whereas the arch over the river is made of brick. The bridge is finished with straight rubble parapets topped with half-round rubble capping.
