Description

The archway is located on the point of a cliff edge in Clovelly Court Park, designed by Sir James Hamlyn, and dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features rustic wooden brackets beneath the arch head. The archway spans a cleft in the rocks, providing access to a pathway that leads to a viewing area situated right on the cliff edge, offering a view out to sea. This structure is part of the landscaped park created by Sir James Hamlyn around Clovelly Court in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
