Description
The lime kiln at Mouth Mill dates from the late 18th century. It features battered stone rubble walls and is square in shape, with a double kiln arranged back to back. Each kiln consists of a small chamber with a hearth at the rear and a small forecourt in front of the entrance. The structure is built into the bank on the west side. Each kiln has a 2-centred arched entrance leading to the chamber, which has a stone corbelled roof and the remains of a hearth at the rear. A tall retaining wall shelters the entrance to each kiln.
