Description

Farmers Arms is an inn that is likely from the late 17th or 18th century, while the adjoining Corner Cottage may date from the 19th century. The building features rendered and whitewashed stone rubble walls. The right side of the inn has a hipped thatch roof, while the left side and the cottage have a slate roof, with the cottage also having a hipped end. There is a brick stack at the left end of both the inn and the cottage.

The inn has a two-room plan with the left room heated and a central entrance, although this layout has likely been significantly altered in the 20th century. The cottage may have a one or two-room plan with an entrance on the right.

The exterior is two storeys high. The Farmers Arms has an asymmetrical front with four windows; the left side, which is slated, is taller and features a large 20th-century three-light casement window on the first floor and two smaller two-light casements below. A 20th-century plank and part-glazed door is located to the left of center on the thatched side. At the right end, there is a lower addition that was previously an outbuilding. Corner Cottage has two late 19th-century six-pane sash windows on the first floor and a larger sash window below on the left, with a 20th-century plank door to the right. The interior of the Farmers Arms has mainly been modernized or altered in the 20th century.
