Description
Numbers 1-6 Railway Cottages are a row of six cottages dating from the late 19th century. They were likely built in connection with Dunsland Cross railway station on the Halwill to Bude railway line, which opened in 1879.
The cottages have brick construction, with the fronts covered in slate. They feature a slate roof with gabled ends, deep eaves, and chamfered timber eaves brackets. The ridge has six chimneys with slate-covered shafts. The symmetrical front has 16 windows. The narrow front doors have integral rectangular fanlights and slate-hung reveals, all beneath slated porch canopies supported by timber brackets. The windows are 1-, 2- and 3-light casements with 2 panes per light, and slate-hung reveals and bullnose brick sills. Numbers 3-6 retain their original windows and front doors. Number 2 has original glazing to the first floor only and a replaced front door, while number 1 has 20th-century glazing and a 20th-century front door. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected.
