Description

This is a 19th-century milestone made from a single slab of painted slate. The stone is slightly tilted and has incised lettering on the left side that reads 'Holsy. 4' and on the right side 'Bude 5½ Stratton 4'. The mileage to Stratton is incised but was not painted at the time of the resurvey in January 1988.
