Description

The buildings at 10-18 Market Street appear to date from the early 19th century. Number 10 is a two-storey building with two sash windows on the first floor, featuring glazing bars. It is stuccoed and has a wide wooden shop front with a dentil entablature and coupled consoles above sunk, panelled pilasters. A plain arched entrance is located on the left, above a fanlight. Numbers 12 and 14 are also two-storey stucco buildings with lined and painted facades. Both have two sash windows, with exposed frames and centre glazing bars. Number 14 has an early 19th-century wooden shop front with reeded pilasters, while number 12 has a sash window with an exposed frame and a fanlight above the entrance. Number 16 is stuccoed, lined, and painted, with two first-floor sash windows featuring exposed frames and side glazing bars. Number 18 is also two-storey, stuccoed and painted, with two first-floor sash windows with exposed frames and glazing bars. It features an altered early 19th-century wooden shop front and a six-panel door with small centre panels, set under a shared entablature. The listed buildings in Market Street form a group.
