Description

An outbuilding, likely of early 16th century origin, stands immediately to the west of Brightley Barton. Its original purpose remains unclear. The building is constructed of plastered cob and rubble walls and has a gable-ended corrugated iron roof. The plan is long and rectangular, possibly indicative of a threshing barn, though this may represent a later adaptation. The exterior features a long, asymmetrical front, with a 16th-century doorframe at the centre, incorporating a pegged doorframe, a cambered and shouldered head, and a bowed jamb on the left side. A later extension is visible at the left end. Internally, the roof is supported by 20th-century timbers.
