Description
The K6 telephone kiosk, located adjacent to the Seagate Hotel, is a standardised design made of cast iron and painted red. It features long horizontal glazing in the door and sides, with crowns on the top panels that are applied rather than perforated. The kiosk has rectangular white display signs that read "TELEPHONE" beneath a shallow-curved roof. Three of these display signs above the doors remain, while one has been replaced with a sign reading "e-mail text phone." The kiosk retains its glass windows and has modernised internal equipment. It is situated on The Quay, opposite the harbourside and overlooking the River Torridge. The kiosk is approximately 28 meters north of No. 1 Meeting Street, another listed building, and has a strong visual connection with both it and the Seagate Hotel, which is also listed. Additionally, it is about 62 meters east of the war memorial on Churchfield. The modern telecommunications equipment inside the K6 is not considered to have special architectural or historic interest.
