Description

Loveland Farmhouse is a 1804 farmhouse constructed of stone rubble walls, rendered on the front and side elevations. It has a gable-ended slate roof with two spans and two brick gable-end stacks at the front, and one at the left end of the rear range. The building follows a double-depth plan with two parallel ranges, placing the principal rooms at the front and narrower service rooms to the rear, incorporating a central stairhall. The symmetrical front facade has three windows; the outer windows are original paired 12-pane sashes, while a 16-pane sash is located at the centre on the first floor. A central 20th-century part-glazed porch with a door sits on the right-hand side. The rear range features mostly original sash windows, with the exception of one late 20th-century inserted casement. A datestone marking 1804 is positioned on the first floor. The interior was likely altered in the 20th century, but some original joinery such as the staircase may remain.
