Description
The Cooke headstone, dated 1777, is located approximately 33 metres south-south-west of the tower of the Church of St Giles. This headstone commemorates Michael Cooke and is made of slate. It features an upright square-headed slab that stands about 500 millimetres high. The top corners are decorated with scrolled carvings. The inscription begins with the first word in ornamental italic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, noting the death of Michael Cooke in 1777. It is important to note that this stone has been moved to its current location.
