Description
Rice Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with an extension added to the left around 1970. The exterior features colourwashed render over cob and stone, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped to the left and gabled to the right. There is a rendered stone ridge stack, which was originally located at the left end of the building. The cottage has a one-unit plan with an outshut to the left that was heightened to create a two-storey bay around 1970. It stands two storeys tall and has been extended from a three-window range to a four-window range. A 20th-century doorway is located to the right. The windows include late 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, positioned left of centre and on the first floor, along with an eyebrow dormer. The left bay features 20th-century casements, and there is a blocked doorway to the right of centre. Inside, the principal rafters of the A-frame roof are visible at the first-floor level. The cottage is included for its group value.
