Description

Haddacott Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 18th century, which was remodelled and extended to the rear around 1860. The building is constructed of stone and cob, with a colourwashed render. The mid 19th-century rear extension is made of coursed slate-stone with brick dressings, and it features a gabled slate roof. There is a mid 19th-century brick stack on the left and a large 18th-century external end stack on the right, finished in 19th-century brick. The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan with a rear right wing and has two storeys with a symmetrical three-window range. A mid 19th-century yellow brick porch leads to a six-panelled door, four of which are glazed. The windows are mid to late 19th-century three-light casements with glazing bars. There is a mid 19th-century dairy outshut that adjoins the mid 19th-century rear right wing. Inside, there are mid 19th-century doors and a staircase.

Additionally, there is an approximately 3-meter-long slate-stone rubble wall attached to the 18th-century barn, which was remodelled in the mid 19th century. This wall projects at right angles from the front right wing and is made of coursed slate-stone, with cob at the upper level beneath the eaves. The barn has a hipped Welsh slate roof and features 19th-century plank double doors with strap hinges leading to the threshing bay, which also has a 19th-century plank door with strap hinges at the rear. A wheel house adjoins the threshing bay.
