Description

Norton Barton is a farmhouse dating from around the early 18th century, although it may incorporate an earlier core. The exterior is whitewashed and rendered, with a slate roof and rendered stacks at both ends of the building. It has a U-shaped plan, with a main range two rooms deep and two rooms wide, featuring a central passage. Rear wings to the left and right appear to be 19th-century additions, likely used as service rooms. The size of the stack at the right end of the building suggests the current structure may be a remodel of a 17th-century house.

The front façade is symmetrical, with three windows across the front and a regular pattern of windows. A central porch has a sloping slate roof supported by stone cheeks. The ground floor windows are three-light casements with three panes per light, with the right-hand window slightly larger and lower than the others. The first floor windows to the left and right are three-light casements with two panes per light, while the central window is a similar two-light casement.

Inside, a chamfered cross beam is visible on the ground floor to the right. Some original 18th-century joinery details remain.
