Description

This granary, located approximately 5 meters east of East Ash Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed slatestone rubble and features a gabled roof made of corrugated iron. The building is two storeys high and has a timber lintel over an iron grille, which is situated above another timber lintel that leads to a 19th-century plank loft door. There are steps at the right-end gable that provide access to a first-floor door. Inside, the granary has two A-frame trusses with pegged collars. It is depicted on the 1842 Tithe Map and is included for its group value.
