Description

CHURCHILL WAY, NORTHAM 1. 1457 Stone tablet at Bloody Corner (approx: 700 yds east of St Margaret's Church) SS 4529 4/75 II

  1. Probably late Cl9. Stone tablet, with moulded stone frame and base, commemorating the battle between Alfred and King Hubba the Dane and the death of the latter in 892 AD. The tablet bears the Chappell crest. The lettering appears to be late C19.
