Description

The Ficklin chest tomb and railings, located immediately south of the south side of Luton Chapel in Bishopsteignton, date from the mid-19th century. The tomb is made of freestone and features a low chest with an oversailing moulded lid. An inscription on the side commemorates Berney Ficklin of the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment, who died in 1854. Surrounding the tomb are iron railings topped with spear finials and supported by columnar corner standards that have urn finials.
