Description

These limekilns, located about 20 meters southeast of Kerswell Cottage, likely date from the 19th century and are constructed from local grey limestone rubble. There are four openings, known as swallows, facing the road, each featuring segmental arches. The fourth swallow, positioned at the right end, is slightly set back from the others. The first swallow from the left includes a subsidiary niche on its internal wall. Limekilns at this site have been documented since 1620, and they serve as a prominent feature at the corner of Kerswell Springs.
