Social Centre And Barn, Immediately West Of Sheldon Farmhouse

The building is a social centre and barn located immediately west of Sheldon Farmhouse. It is likely from the late 17th century or 18th century and has been remodeled in the late 20th century. The structure features whitewashed rendered cob and stone with a corrugated iron roof, which is half-hipped at the end of the barn and hipped at the end of the outbuilding.

The outbuilding runs parallel to the farmhouse and is situated in front of it, while the barn is at right angles to the outbuilding, attached at the north end. The conversion of the outbuilding into a social centre included repartitioning and the addition of new roof timbers, but it still plays an important role in the setting of the farmhouse.

The exterior of the two-storey outbuilding has a modern doorway to the right of centre and a large modern window to the right, along with two first-floor loft loading doors that have been converted into modern windows. The single-storey barn has a 20th-century rear lean-to, a large doorway at the front with a timber lintel, and a blocked window to the right. Inside, the outbuildings have been modernized, while the barn features 19th or 20th-century roof trusses. The building has group value with the chapel and farmhouse.
