Description
Whitemoor Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating from the late 17th century, which was remodeled in the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rendered cob and stone rubble, topped with a thatched roof that is gabled at both ends, featuring a left end stack that projects. The building has a single depth main block that is three rooms wide, along with a separately roofed narrow rear service block, which is also thatched.
The layout includes a central entrance leading into a large unheated entrance hall, with a staircase located to the rear right of the hall within the depth of the service block. There is likely a 19th-century single-storey kitchen block at the right end of the farmhouse, which has a two-span roof.
The exterior is two storeys high and presents an asymmetrical four-window front with regular fenestration. A 20th-century thatched porch and front door are located approximately in the center. The rear elevation features five dormers on the lower-roofed service block, which is an unusual characteristic of the house.
Inside, most details are from the 20th century. The right-hand room of the main block contains a 17th-century open fireplace with a scroll-stopped lintel and a bread oven, along with a boxed-in crossbeam. The center and left end rooms have roughly chamfered crossbeams. The roof was not inspected during the survey.
