Description

Crocombe Bridge is a road bridge over the River Teign, built in 1836 by James Green. It is constructed of stone ashlar with granite coping along the parapet. The bridge features three equal spans of shallow segmental arches supported by ashlar piers, which have half round cutwaters with domed tops on both the upstream and downstream sides. There is a string band at the impost level, and a further band that is slightly curved at road level, with coping that runs parallel to it. The bridge also has swept abutments. The date of construction is confirmed by A B George and D Thomas.
