Description
Church House is a former church, now used as offices, built in 1875 and converted into offices in 1976. It is constructed of squared Devon limestone and features a slate roof, showcasing the Gothic Revival Decorated style. The building has a rectangular plan with a prominent entrance tower at the front, flanked by lower and narrower wings.
The west tower is designed in three stages, featuring decorative quatrefoil oxidized copper bands and quoins leading up to an octagonal slate spire. It has a pierced parapet with diagonally-set finials at the corners and sides, and machicolation above three-light louvred pointed-arched belfry openings, which are complemented by loopholes below. Gabled clasping buttresses frame the three-light traceried windows, and a gabled pointed-arched doorcase includes a quatrefoil in the tympanum. The flanking wings contain two-light windows, weathered corner buttresses, and porches with pointed arches, above which are two-light cusped-headed windows. The returns of the building have five bays with similar two-light windows. The interior has not been inspected.
