Description

Farmhouse, dating from around the 16th or early 17th century, with extensions from the 17th or 18th century and a late 19th-century remodelling. It is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble with a Welsh slate roof, gabled ends, heightened eaves, and rendered chimney stacks. The original layout comprised three rooms and a through-passage, with three lateral stacks at the rear of the hall, inner room, and lower end. A later wing was added to the rear of the higher end, possibly as a parlour. A late 19th-century staircase was inserted into the through-passage, which was widened during the process. The front façade has a regular rhythm of five windows. The windows are late 19th- or 20th-century cross mullion transom casements, containing glazing bars. A wide passage doorway is located to the right of the centre, now with 20th-century double doors and a later 19th-century porch. The porch has timber posts supporting a gabled roof with shaped bargeboards and features a reset late 17th-century moulded plaster shell with a cartouche in the centre, acting as a hood in the gable. A rear wing of uncertain date exists, along with later 20th-century additions. Inside, there are rough chamfered ceiling beams, and a late 19th-century staircase in the through-passage. The roof has not been inspected.
