Description
Nos 4 and 6 High Street are a late 18th century or early 19th century refronting of an earlier building, which was known as the Church House before 1442. The structure has three storeys and dormers, with a fenestration pattern of 1:2. It features a Welsh slate mansard roof with rendered and red brick stacks. The exterior is finished in stucco with a rusticated ground floor, a plain band at the first floor level, a plinth, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are recessed, architraved sash windows with glazing bars and cornices at the first floor. The dormers have arched heads and Gothick tracery.
No 4 has a recessed round-arched doorway with a radial fanlight and a panelled door, while No 6 has a modern shopfront. At the rear of No 6 is a former cottage from the late 18th century, which is two storeys high and double fronted with two windows. It has a hipped Welsh slate roof and is constructed from coursed Devonian limestone rubble. The openings have timber lintels, and there are two and three light mullioned casement windows with glazing bars, along with a boarded door.
