Description

The building at 5 High Street dates to circa 1782. It is a three-storey structure with dormers, featuring a double-fronted design with three windows. The roof is a Welsh slate mansard roof with a rendered stone stack. The front of the building is slate-hung, incorporating a modillion eaves cornice. The windows are architraved sashes. A wooden shopfront is located at the west end, distinguished by quasi-pilasters supporting an entablature which extends across the front of the house. This shopfront has a window with large panes and glazing bars. At the east end, the ground floor features a sash window with side lights and glazing bars. The central doorway is framed by a wooden doorcase with panelled pilasters and brackets supporting an entablature and open pediment. The reveals are panelled and the intrados is decorated; a round arched fanlight is above the door, and the door itself is raised and fielded, approached by steps.
