Description

Seymour Terrace is an early to mid-19th century terrace of four houses. It has two storeys with dormers and basements. The symmetrical facade features projecting end and central bays. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has rendered stacks. The front of the terrace is stuccoed, with a plain parapet band and a band at the first floor level. Dormers have a segmental head. The recessed sash windows have glazing bars. Windows in the projecting bays include side lights. Ground-floor openings are segmental-headed and set within arched recesses. The doorways are recessed, with rectangular fanlights above; Nos. 1 and 3 retain margin lights in their fanlights, and all have half-glazed doors. The west return of No. 1, facing the river, has an elaborate coped gable rising to a stack and cornice. Entrances are approached from a raised terrace by steps, and the front is defined by cast iron railings with spearhead standards and urn finials. Similar railings also enclose the gardens facing the river, and a garden gate has cast iron standards with palmette decoration.
