Description
The Fox chest tomb, located approximately 10 meters north-west of the tower of the Church of St Clement, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1829 in memory of Thomas Fox. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape. The tomb features a flat lid with moulded edges and a moulded plinth. The corners are inset with fluted pilasters, and each side has rectangular panels with concave corners. The lid is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering in italics, detailing the death of Thomas Fox in 1829. Additional inscriptions on the lid and sides commemorate other members of the Fox family who passed away later in the 19th century. Surrounding the tomb is a stone kerb with sockets for iron railings.
