Description
This is a pair of headstones located about 10 metres south-southwest of the south porch of the Church of St Andrew in East Allington. They date from the mid-18th century and are made of slate with shaped heads. The southernmost headstone features an hourglass carved at the top and has an inscription in upper and lower case lettering with serifs, commemorating Elizabeth Hyne, who died in 1762. The northernmost headstone is broader, adorned with a heart in the segmental head, flanked by two nowy-shaped shoulders, and inscribed in upper and lower case with serifs in memory of William Pillage, who died in 1753.
