Description

SLAPTON SLAPTON SX8245 Tucker chest tomb about 2 metres north east of 11/110 chancel of Church of St James GV II

Chest tomb. Circa 1760. Finely dressed slate chest with hollow chamfered cornice and slate lid inscribed on top in upper and lower case with serifs to "Thomas Tucker of --knoll of this parish" who died in 1760. There is a later slate plaque rebated into the west end of the chest with inscription to Thomas Tucker died 1805 and signed on top "J Wills? Sculpt".
