Description
This is a chest tomb located about 2 meters northeast of the chancel of the Church of St James, dating from around 1760. It is made of finely dressed slate and features a hollow chamfered cornice. The slate lid is inscribed in both upper and lower case with serifs, stating "Thomas Tucker of --knoll of this parish," who died in 1760. Additionally, there is a later slate plaque set into the west end of the chest, which bears an inscription for Thomas Tucker, who died in 1805, and is signed on top "J Wills? Sculpt."
