Description
The former workhouse located at 1276 Union Road dates back to around 1835 and consists of parallel ranges. It is a large three-storey building that originally had approximately 25 windows, though the central section was destroyed by enemy action. The structure is built of stone with brick window facings. To the south, there is a smaller two-storey range, also made of stone with brick window facings. The symmetrical central block is in good condition and features two storeys with 11 windows, including a three-window central projection. The ground floor windows have cambered heads, and there is a six-panel door with sunk upper panels. A link wall connects to the lodge on the east side. The entire property is now used for commercial purposes.
