Description
This is a headstone dedicated to Robin Pepperell, located about 8 metres northwest of the north porch of the Church of St James in Slapton. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of slate. The headstone features a nowey head with shaped shoulders, although one shoulder has been broken off. The east side of the headstone has an incised compass at the top and an inscription below in both upper and lower case with serifs, stating "Robin Pepperell of Owlacombe in this parish" who died in 1795.
