Description

This is a First World War memorial located in the parish. It is constructed from rough-hewn granite and features metal lettering. The memorial takes the form of a two-tiered, square plinth surmounted by an obelisk. The south face of the plinth displays the names of those who died, integrated within a dedication inscription in raised lettering, which reads: "IN GRATEFUL AND/ HONOURED REMEMBRANCE/ OF THOSE FROM THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ FOR KING AND EMPIRE IN THE/ GREAT WAR, 1914-1918./ (NAMES)/ THEY WERE A WALL UNTO US BOTH BY/ NIGHT AND DAY. 1SAMUEL XXV.16." The memorial stands within a square enclosure defined by low tubular railings fixed to eight small, obelisk-shaped granite posts.
