Description
No 61, known as South Hams District Council, is an earlier to mid-19th century house with an L-shaped plan, set back from the street and featuring a forecourt. The building has two storeys and a four-bay front, with a one-bay wing returning on the west side. It is topped with a hipped Welsh slate roof that has projecting eaves. The front is rendered and includes a plain band at first floor level, a cill band, and a plinth. The windows are recessed with glazing bars, and there is a blank window on the first floor above the entrance, along with a three-light window in the return of the west wing. The stone doorcase features simplified pilaster panel-stops, a pediment, and acroteria. The round arched doorway is set in an arched recess and is adorned with a patterned radial fanlight and a panelled door.
