Description

The Tower is a navigation daymark (beacon) located on Froward Point, built in 1864. This 80-foot high structure is made of slate rubble and has an octagonal shape with sharply battered walls. The top is truncated, and there are tall, narrow pointed-head openings on each side at the base, creating eight stilted piers. It was constructed as a navigational aid by the Dart Harbour Commissioners.
