Description
Millhouse Farmhouse is a former miller's house, now functioning as a farmhouse, built around 1830 to 1840. It is constructed of local stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. The building has gable end stacks with rendered shafts. The layout is a symmetrical double depth plan, consisting of two main front rooms with a central lobby entrance and a straight flight of stairs positioned between the two front rooms. The service rooms are located at the back.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front. It retains original 16-pane sash windows that have brick segmented arches and slate sills. The central doorway also features a similar arch and an original six-panel door, with the bottom panels being flush. Although the interior was not inspected, it is expected to retain its original simple 19th-century joinery, given the completely unaltered state of the interior. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
