Description
Hill Crest is a cottage, probably from the 18th century, that was extended in the late 20th century. It is built of roughcast stone rubble and features a thatched roof with a gabled end, where the eaves are eyebrowed over the first-floor windows. The right-hand gable end has a stack with a rebuilt red brick shaft. The cottage has a two-room plan with a central entrance, and each room is heated from a gable end stack located in the right-hand corner.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor. The windows are two-light casements with glazing bars, likely from the 19th century, but they may be in original frames. There is a small fixed-light four-pane window from the early 19th century to the right on the ground floor. The doorway, located to the left of centre, features a glazed and panelled door from the early 20th century, along with a slated canopy.
On the right end, there is a late 19th-century lean-to outbuilding (garage) at a lower level, and behind it, a late 20th-century flat-roof extension. The rear elevation was not inspected. The interior was also not inspected, but it may still have some original 18th or 19th-century joinery, and the plan may remain unaltered.
