Description
The wall on the south side of the churchyard of the Church of St George is a boundary wall, likely built in the 19th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble, primarily local limestone and slate, with the lower courses containing more slate and the upper part at the west end featuring more limestone. This suggests that the wall may have been raised and partially rebuilt during the 19th century. The wall has local limestone rubble saddle-back coping. Near the east end, there is a pair of square stone rubble gate-piers that are rebated for a gate, which dates from the 20th century. At the east end, there is also a large projecting circular pier on the outside of the wall, likely part of a pair of gate-piers that originally served Dittisham Court, with the other pier having been demolished.
