Description
4 to 8 Buckley Court is a group of buildings, likely from the early 18th century, with some alterations. They are two stories tall, with Nos 4 to 7 featuring one window on each floor. No 8, which was formerly a Post Office, has an L-shaped plan and two windows facing Buckley Street. It has near flush frame sash windows with glazing bars, a six-panel door with glazed upper panels, and an added glazed porch with a six-pane door. The exterior has stippled rendering that is colorwashed, and there is a curved hewn lintel above a wide former doorway leading into the court.
Nos 4 to 7 are built of stone and have wooden lintels above the first-floor windows. Nos 4 and 5 have enlarged casements, while No 6 retains sliding casements. The ground floor windows of Nos 6 and 7 feature red brick flat arches, and there are coupled entrances with a slate-roofed flat canopy that lacks brackets. The interiors include wide fireplaces, window seats, and original staircases. The buildings have slate roofs, and the original cobbled surface of the courtyard is still intact.
