Description

Hillside Cottage is a small house, likely built in the late 17th century or 18th century, with a flat-roofed addition from the 20th century on the right end. The building features whitewashed plastered cob and stone rubble, topped with a thatched roof that is gabled at both ends. There is an axial stack located to the right of the center. The plan of the interior is not entirely clear as it was not inspected during the survey in 1987, but it appears to be a single depth range with a thatched rear right projection, which may contain the stair. The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with four windows. There is a 20th-century front door located to the right of the center, which is sheltered by a thatched porch hood. The windows are a mix of one, two, and three-light casement windows from the 19th or 20th century, featuring glazing bars. Although the interior was not inspected at the time of the survey, it is reported to have an open fireplace and exposed beams.
