Description
This is a row of four adjoining houses located in The Row, George Nympton. They were likely built in the early 19th century. The houses are rendered, possibly over stone, and have slate roofs. The roof at the right-hand end is hipped, and there are two axial stacks. Originally, each house probably had a single room with back-to-back fireplaces indicated by the axial stacks. The houses present a two-storey façade, with each house originally having a single window on the front. The two houses in the middle have adjacent front doors. The front doors are half-glazed and probably date to the 19th century, recessed, and feature segmental arches over the doorways. The windows are early 19th-century small-pane timber sashes, with the exception of the right-hand house, where the sashes have been replaced with four-pane sashes. The interior of the houses was not inspected. The row is considered attractive, retaining most of its original external features.
