Description
The Village Hall is a village hall that was formerly the village school, built in 1871 with a late 20th-century extension that is not included in the listing. It is constructed of snecked stone with stone dressings and features a slate roof, gabled at both ends, with crested ridge tiles and a stack at the junction between the two blocks, along with ventilation pots on the ridge. The building is designed in the Gothic style and has an L-shaped plan with two blocks at right angles to each other, and a porch at the left end of the main block.
The exterior is single-storey with a two-bay south elevation that includes two square-headed three-light transomed stone windows with cusped lights and ashlar relieving arches. The porch, which is a lean-to at the left end, has a chamfered Tudor arched stone doorframe and a stone two-light square-headed window in the end wall. The east end wall of the main block features a Tudor arched three-light transomed stone window with cusped lights, a hood mould, and a bell in the gable. The smaller block has a two-light square-headed window with a hood mould. The interior has not been inspected, but the hall is noted as a neat Gothic school located in the village centre, retaining its original windows.
